The first two weekends of June are always an exciting time for San Francisco / Oakland East-Bay artists who participate in Pro-Arts East-Bay Open Studios. During this time art enthusiasts from all over the San Francisco Bay Area gather at the non-profit Pro-Arts Gallery to see samples of exhibiting artists work and pick up a catalog complete with maps to locate their favorite artists' studios.
My studio was open to the public from 11 AM to 5 PM both weekends and one evening from 7:30 to 10 PM. Over the course of the weekend I had over a hundred visitors to my studio and sold several works, including one large (6' x 6') painting entitled "Becca's Aloé".
The snap-shots below give you an idea of the quantity and variety of the work I currently have on display (there is actually more hanging in the lobby and hallways of the building, not shown below). Clicking on a thumbnail will bring up a larger view. No, my living and painting studios do not always look like this. It takes about two weeks to get everything set up for the Open Studios exhibition. I will continue to keep my studio set up as a gallery through June 22nd and can schedule viewings by appointment via email [rawpaint /at/ mac.com]. After that, however, the studio is returned to its primary purpose of making art. All the art tools and supplies, work tables and so on, will soon come out from their hiding places and the walls return to their primary function of supports for work in progress and drying. This is the best time to see the work because it is hung with proper illumination in mind.
